Richie and Mario, Stories and Songs – an Acoustic Way of Life

Owner Mario Lapointe will join local musician Richie Gallacher for a gig raising funds for Tullochan and DFC next month.
After the success of last year’s event, Richie and Mario, Stories and Songs – an Acoustic Way of Life, will see the duo entertain guests with tales from their lives, as well as acoustic performances in The Rock on Friday September 25.
All the money raised from ticket sales will be donated to Tullochan, based on Poplar Road, a youth development charity who work with over 1000 young people each year between the ages of 5 and 25.
Tullochan offers a range of bespoke programmes within primary and secondary schools, as well as tailored support through the Tullochan Training Academy, including work placement opportunities, personal development programmes and drop-in groups.
Mario, who performs under the stage name Vintage Lapointe and has had his work streamed more than 1m times online, said: “Last year’s event was very emotional for me. Especially so soon after buying the club and getting to know people in Dumbarton. I don’t perform in front of people very often, but the feedback we got was amazing and it was such a powerful experience.
“Both Richie and I are passionate about music, sport and using these to support young people. And it was an honour to share a stage with him. I’m really looking forward to doing it again, especially without all the nerves of performing live in Scotland for the first time like last year.
“Last year I also got to see the life-changing work that Tullochan is doing across Dumbarton and the region, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud to support.
“It will be a night of original music where Richie and I will talk about the stories and emotions behind each song.
“It kicks off a big weekend for the whole town with both our men’s and women’s team having home games, and with the Dumbarton Rocks Festival. Which will be the biggest ever!”
Richie added: “After 11 years at Tullochan, including four-and-a-half as CEO, I made the difficult decision to move on this year. The charity is in excellent hands with Amanda Black, and I’ll always feel connected to the team and the impact they deliver for young people and families.
“With rising costs and reduced funding across the third sector, every donation helps Tullochan stay responsive and continue supporting young people to build confidence and skills for a positive future.
“I’m looking forward to playing again with Mario, last year’s gig was great, and this one will be even better.”
Tickets are on sale now via Fanbase priced at £10, with doors opening from 6.30pm on Friday September 25.
