Women’s Pathway Night
The Rock sponsored by Marbill Coaches was buzzing this week with players, coaches and parents from the Women’s Pathway Teams and Women’s Team on hand to welcome the youngsters into the stadium for a look at the opportunities that lie ahead.
Coaches took the chance to sit down in the Denny Suite, chatting with players and parents, with DFC staff organising everything to the backing sound of a bagpipe group rehearsing in the background.
Head of Women’s and Girls Development Gerry Gallacher said: “The sessions are a vital part of what we are trying to build throughout our pathway, providing the opportunity to speak properly with each player and her family, recognise the progress she is making, and agree the next steps in her development. Just as importantly, they help make sure that each girl’s enjoyment of football, confidence, and individual development remain central to everything we do.
“It was also fantastic to see how invested the parents and carers are in their daughters’ football journeys. That support makes such a difference. When players know their coaches, parents and club are all working together in the right way, it creates a much better environment for them to enjoy the game, challenge themselves and keep improving.
“The club will repeat this positive learning at least twice per year. I am already wondering when we all chat again about how much these young footballers have progressed.”
Coach Drew MacEoghainn commented: “Our coaches greatly appreciate the opportunity to contribute to these girls’ career pathway, and we take that responsibility incredibly seriously.
“It was brilliant to have the opportunity to speak directly with parents and outline our plans for helping their daughters progress as far as possible in football. We are committed to providing the support, guidance, and opportunities needed for every player to reach their full potential.”

Nicky McColl from the U12s added: “It was a brilliant night. Every player seemed to enjoy it. I certainly did”
Stephen Doherty 14s team Head Coach was full of praise, said: This was a really successful and positive event for the team, what a fantastic turnout.”
Gerry added: “Holding the event at the club stadium made the evening feel even more special. It helps underline the connection between the girls’ section and the senior teams and gives the players a stronger sense that they are part of the wider club. That connection is really important, not only for the girls and their families, but also for strengthening the relationship between the club and the local community.”
