Meet the Team Behind the Team: Gail Sneddon

It’s the go-to spot for a pre-match refreshment and a post-match debrief.

The Marbill Coaches Stadium is also a hive of activity away from matchdays; hosting everything from pantomimes to business conferences and, of course, plenty of family celebrations.

As part of our functions, hospitality and events team, Gail Sneddon – who has used her three decades of experience in hospitality to make it one of West Dunbartonshire’s premier venues, open to all.

In the first of our Meet the Team Behind the Team features, get to know a little bit more about Gail – who has a family connection with the Sons that stretches back for more than half a century.

She explained: “With family connection with the club over the last 50 years. I saw that I could bring 30+ years of bar and hospitality experience skills to DFC, starting just over 2.5 years ago.

“My role is ensuring both fans of the club and visitors for the first time enjoy the experience at Dumbarton Football Stadium Club. Whether it’s a matchday hospitality event or simply a refreshment with family and friends.

“My priority is to ensure that they take away good memories. And the best thing about being involved is providing an opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and build a strong social connection within the community to come together as one.”

We all have our own matchday routines, so what does build-up to a Saturday at 3pm look like for Gail?

She explained: “You get to see supporters gathering up outside waiting to get in, and then the focus is on making sure that everyone who attends the games, whether it is hospitality or Bar72, has the best possible experience.

“It’s great to see fans interacting with each other, whether it is talking about football or just catching up laughing and smiling. Best of all is getting to chat and say hello to them myself as they are not just supporters of the game, they are family.”

As a club rooted in the community we’re always keen to attract more people to help out, with the door always open to volunteers looking to make a difference.

Gail added: “Get involved to expand your social circle and build strong relationships with like-minded individuals, develop new skills, gain valuable experience and find a sense of belonging and community with the club.

“With over 150 years of football, history, passion & community equals happiness.”

Gail is also organising a spook-tacular Halloween event at the stadium on November 1 – with all funds raised going to local good causes supporting people battling cancer. Find out more and book your tickets now.
