We are happy to confirm the addition of Ayr United winger Scott Tomlinson to the Sons squad on a season-long loan deal.
Scott joins teammate Ollie Ecrepont in heading up from Ayrshire to Dumbarton on a temporary deal this season and we thank Scott Brown and everybody at United for their assistance in these deals.
Scott arrives with a wealth of SPFL experience despite just being 19, with game time at William Hill Championship level with the Honest Men and in William Hill League 1 during a loan spell with Stenhousemuir last campaign, during which he helped them to reach the promotion play-offs.
Naturally a right sided winger Scott can also be deployed at full back or in the centre of midfield and is another useful addition to Stevie Farrell’s tight knit squad for the upcoming season.
On the new addition the gaffer said: “I tried to get Scott last season before he went to Stenhousemuir on loan. He’s someone I’ve known about for a while.
“One of the first calls I made over the close season was to Graeme Mathie and Scott Brown at Ayr United to try and get Scott. I knew he would fit the way we want to play.
“He’s strong and he’s very quick. Not very many defenders in William Hill League 2 will be able to live with his pace and power.
“He’s not played a lot of football either. It’s good to get him in. At the top end of the pitch we needed a bit of pace and that’s something we know that we’ve added that with Scott.”
