A former defender, best remembered for a lengthy spell with Stranraer – Franko was appointed Sons manager in December 2025, having worked as a coach for the previous seven years.

As a player, Frank started his career with Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle – before moving into Junior football, first with Linlithgow Rose, and then Arthurlie. His form at Dunterlie attracted plenty of senior interest, and he moved into the SFL with Stranraer in 2010. Playing almost 200 times for the Blues, and captaining the club.

A move into full-time football with Greenock Morton followed, but this was cruelly cut-short by a serious injury just minutes into his debut. Frank returned for a second spell with Stranraer a year later, before helping Alloa Athletic to promotion from League 1 in 2018.

His coaching journey began with Stranraer, before he joined Sons in 2021 as assistant manager.
