THIS Saturday at half-time during Sons opening SPFL Championship game against Greenock Morton, club sponsor YOUR Radio will kick-off a series of community events at the stadium.
Neil Stewart, who leads the local stations community initiatives said – “We are really pleased to be part of the club at Dumbarton.
“Our involvement going forward will be based on helping the club with getting out into the community.
“It’s a positive side of football and we are confident that all involved will reap the benefit of this.
“The players and club officials have been great with us so far, with co-operation that is valued.
“The Sons are a successful and hopefully growing club and at YOUR Radio we want to help.”
Neil has organised a Beat the Goalie feature which he hopes will be an ongoing event during the season.
He continued : “It’s a simple thing to do and to some maybe a bit old fashioned, but it does involve the fans and ongoing we’ll be looking at getting schools taking part.
“For this weekend’s game we’ve been running an online facility at the YOUR Radio website, plus on-air plugs for supporters to join in.
“We’ll have a live draw tomorrow to announce who can take part at the Morton game.”
Helping out on Saturday and the goalie to beat will be Sons fan Joe McCaughey (pictured above with son Fraser).
Joe took part in last month’s Play for the Sons event and is part of the management team at another club sponsor – East End Coachworks.
Joe said : “I’m looking forward to it.
“I did declare my retirement in July after letting in 3 goals in the fans game, but delighted to put on the gloves again to get involved!”
