DUNDEE United youth player Darren Petrie may be far from his spiritual home at the Rock, but he admits to be delighted to have joined Dumbarton.
The midfielder completed his loan move to the Sons earlier today and sees his move as an opportunity to play first team football on a regular basis.
“I played at Brechin last season and I enjoyed being part of the starting eleven,” said Darren.
“At Dumbarton I hope to be involved regularly, and the opportunity will be there to play in a competitive division at a good level. When I was made aware of Dumbarton’s interest, it wasn’t a difficult decision to make to join.”
A left-sided player, the Stirling born youngster appeared pre-season for United in several games.
He said that he is not overly bothered where he plays. “I’m happy getting a game and I’ll do my very best wherever I’m asked to do a job,” he added.
Darren will wear the number 17 jersey during his time at Dumbarton.
