DUMBARTON suffered yet another 1-0 defeat at the hands of Airdrieonians as their relegation plight deepens.
Manager Jim Duffy made six changes from the starting line-up in the 1-1 draw at Falkirk for this vital lower-table clash with Airdrieonians in what to start with was a sunlit C & G Systems Stadium.
Ruaridh Langan blocked an early Leon McCann free-kick as Ian Murray’s men dominated the early play. At the other end it was Langan who had Sons first real chance in the 34th minute but his shot from distance went over the bar. It remained 0-0 at the interval.
In the 50th minute Nick McAllister and Sam Wardrop cleared danger from the lively Thomas Robert. Ten minutes later Jaime Wilson was yellow-carded after a clash with keeper Max Currie — and soon after Langan joined him in the ref’s book.
Two double changes followed for Sons, Robert Jones and PJ Crossan replacing James Wallace and Wilson; then Nat Wedderburn and Rabin Omar coming on for Conner Duthie and Langan.
But in the 80th minute the visitors opened the scoring, and once again it was an ex-Son, Ally Roy, who did the damage, heading home. Three minutes later Kyle Connell volleyed just wide.
As Sons pushed for an equaliser Ross Forbes was sent off after a clash with a defender, and the ten men could not find an equaliser.
