THE season is now underway for all four of our Club Academy Scotland youth teams, and DFC’s Head of Youth Tony Gervaise is delighted with the start that all age groups have achieved.
Great progress has been made in the relatively short period since the beginning of the campaign which is now 3 weeks old.
Tony said : “We already have over 60 players working within the system, all of whom benefit from our training programme.
“Over all the age groups the lads are starting to find a good level of performance, individually and collectively.
“The players are now benefiting from the hard work they put in over seven weeks of pre-season.”
Youth development is at the core of the football club and Tony recognises that help is required in this respect.
So, he was delighted to announce some new sponsorhip from the local franchise of Frankie and Bennys who are based in St James Retail Park.
He continued : ” Frankie and Bennys are now on board as a welcome business partner and will support the YDI development programme with the introduction of a Player of the Month award for all age groups.
“Squad coaches will award the a player each month for their level of performance covering all aspects of representing Dumbarton F.C on and off the field.
“The player who wins will receive a voucher for a three-course family meal at the Dumbarton restaurant.
“We are delighted with this support from Frankie & Bennys as it encourage’s the players to maintain a level of performance and it is a small return for the family support the player’s all receive.”
On Sunday (31st), all four YDI teams will play their Partick Thistle counterparts.
The 13s and 15s travel to Lochinch Sports Facility for 10.15am and 12.15pm kick-offs respectively.
Meanwhile the 14s and 17s both have 2pm starts at Argyle Park in Alexandria.
