DUMBARTON’S final friendly before the Premier Sports Cup campaign takes place tonight at the end of a long journey to Cumbria to face Workington AFC.
Having had a draw, a defeat and a victory in pre-season so far, Sons are continuing to fine tune things ahead of the opening competitive fixture against Stirling Albion on Saturday.
Runners-up in last season’s Northern Premier League Division One, only a point behind the champions, Workington are expected to offer another tough test.
Dumbarton hope to welcome back Stuart Carswell (pictured) for tonight’s game, while Gregg Wylde should also be fit.
However, Edin Lynch, Ryan McGeever and Ally Love all remain out. Trialists are again expected to feature.
Supporters making the journey are reminded that they can purchase tickets in advance, or they can pay in cash on the gate.
Tonight’s game has a 7.45pm kick-off.
Workington, managed by ex-Hearts and St Johnstone defender Danny Grainger, are expected to field a mixture of experience, youth and trialists tonight, with their competitive season remaining a month away.
They have played two friendlies so far, winning 4-1 away to Whitehaven but losing 3-1 at home to a Blackburn Rovers XI on Saturday.
Even if you can’t be at Borough Park tonight, a virtual half time draw is taking place – full details here.
Safe journey to all those making the trip.
