WINNING FINISH TO SONS COLTS’ CAMPAIGN

Thursday 2nd May 2013

DUMBARTON’S reserves put in another fine performance on the road this evening, claiming a 3-0 victory over Queen of the South in their final league game of the season.

Mark Lamont opened the scoring for Sons from the penalty spot in the first half.

The team put in an impressive shift and were rewarded with an Ally McKerracher goal to make it 2-0 heading into the break.

In the second half Dumbarton held onto their lead, with ‘keeper Josh Lumsden making an important save on the hour to hold the home side at bay.

Then Ryan Metcalfe wrapped up the game for Sons with a third goal, concluding a positive week for the DFC reserves: eight goals and six points from two matches.

It was a good night in Dunfries, and an apt prelude to the Dumbarton first team’s final game of the season at the Bet Butler Stadium on Saturday.
