WHISKY GALORE!

Sunday 24th September 2017

HE’S scored in all three home games he’s played for Dumbarton, and walked away with the Sonstrust man of the match whisky from the two in the league.

But Dimitris Froxylias has just one problem. He doesn’t drink the stuff.

The Greek-born Cypriot youth international scored Sons’ equaliser in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Inverness CT before his free kick rebounded for Sam Wardrop to score the winner.

That resulted in him again being chosen as top player – but it’s his family who can look forward to the rewards he’s had for his performances.

He told www.dumbartonfootballclub.com: “I don’t like whisky. I only drink water and the occasional beer.

“But getting another bottle of whisky means I am again man of the match and I will take it!

“I will probably give them to people in Greece. I’ll give some to my dad.

“When we equalised against Inverness early in the second half, we felt we could go on and win. We are very happy with the result as we had to work hard for it.

“I think it is a fair result as I thought we were the better side, even in the first half.

“There is no disappointment that my free kick didn’t go straight in, as Sam scored the rebound and got us the win.”

Having taken full points from a vital home double header with Brechin and Inverness, Sons travel next Saturday to face another form team in Livingston.

But despite the Almondvale team picking up an impressive win at Falkirk yesterday, Dimitris is confident.

He added: “We work hard in every game and in training and will be doing that again this week.

“I think we can beat Livingston if we play like that again. We have a good team.”
