Dumbarton’s first quarter of the League One season came to an end with a 3-1 defeat to Stenhousemuir this afternoon.
Blair Alston put the visitors ahead with a penalty on 11 minutes before Sons ‘keeper Brett Long was forced off with an injury.
Matty Aitken got the final touch on a corner to double Stenny’s lead with Carlo Pignatiello pulling one back for the Sons just before half-time.
The second period was back and forth as Dumbarton stayed in the game until the 70th minute when Cammy Clark was shown a second yellow card.
Stenhousemuir sealed the points ten minutes later when Aitken tapped home his second.
There’s no game for Dumbarton next weekend with Sons returning to action on October 19 with a visit to Arbroath.
