DUMBARTON’S trip to Livingston ended with a hard won point in a 1-1 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
Livingston physically dominated most of the first half, playing tight in midfield and hitting hard on the break.
On 14 minutes the home side went ahead. A defensive slip by Sons allowed Scott Pittman to roll the ball into an empty net.
Towards the end of the half there was a big penalty shout for Dumbarton when Frazer Wright looked to have his legs taken away, but nothing was given.
After the break Sons struggled to find a breakthrough, while their opponents remained resolute and well-organised.
A Frazer Wright header forced the Livi keeper into a good tip-over at full stretch, but most other forays forward seemed to fizzle out too quickly.
Dumbarton continued to work hard and were rewarded in the 89th minute when Steven Saunders (pictured) slammed home a loose ball from a corner to claim a vital point.
The result keeps Sons in seventh place in the Ladbrokes Championship, with seven points taken from the last nine.
