Manager Stevie Farrell has acknowledged that this summer has brought its fair share of challenges but remains optimistic about the club’s current position and future prospects.
Speaking to the club site he said: “It’s been a challenging summer.
“But we’re quite happy with where we are. We still have a bit of work to do, and we’re probably running a wee bit behind everyone else – but I’m relatively pleased with the position that we’re in given everything that we’ve had to deal with.”
With many players still on holiday, Farrell revealed that the upcoming Stirlingshire Cup will provide valuable opportunities for trialists to stake their claim in the squad.
He revealed: “For the Stirlingshire Cup we have a number of trialists because a lot of our players are still on holiday, but that’s an opportunity for them to show what they can do.”
Farrell also praised the transparency and honesty he has experienced working with incoming new owner Mario Lapointe, highlighting the positive impact this has had on his approach.
He said: “With Mario, I’ve had nothing but complete and utter honesty. I haven’t had any jam tomorrow speeches, no flashy promises about the division we’ll be in or the trees we’ll be pulling up. I’ve had nothing but complete honesty from day one. He’s told me that the budget is what it is, and no additional money is available.
“That kind of clarity makes it easier to manage expectations and plan accordingly. We’ve only known each other a short time, but we’ve built up a really good relationship.
“We’re in constant dialogue. It’s refreshing because it’s probably the first time that I’ve had that kind of relationship with an owner since I came back to the club.”
Farrell finished with a note of optimism and commitment to the club’s future. “I’ve got a real affinity with Dumbarton, and my belief is that the journey forward will be a positive one.”
