SONS boss Stevie Aitken has been busy in the run up to the closure of tomorrow’s transfer window, but admits that he’s not concluding any deals today.
Stevie has been on the lookout for players to fill a couple of key positions but the right players have not been available.
“It’s always a frantic time and this year it’s been no different.
“From the outside, it looks like that these things are very straightforward, but I can assure you that they’re not.
“You think you’re getting somewhere and then all of a sudden the situation changes.”
Stevie’s attention is now on the next match which is the Irn Bru Cup round three game against Stranraer, his former club.
He said : “It’s a competition that we’ve not had much luck in as a club and hopefully on Saturday we can make some progress.
“But Stranraer will be keen to beat us, and it’s a game we will take seriously.”
The boss will be without two players in the shape of Daniel Harvie and Joe Thomson.
“Daniel will be with the Scotland under-19 squad,” said Stevie “and Joe is cup tied as he’s played for Celtic under-20s in the same competition.”
Kick-off on Saturday at Stair Park is 3pm – admission prices are shown here
In other news, there have been a couple of changes to Stevie’s backroom staff
Long serving goalkeeping coach Jim Gallacher has now retired and physio Claire Mitchell has moved on, with Kirsten Murray taking over in the role.
Also leaving is assistant kit man Jimmy McLoughlin.
All at Dumbarton FC wish Jim, Jimmy and Claire best wishes and thank them for their services to the club.
