TOUGH TEST AGAINST FALKIRK

Friday 24th February 2017

DUMBARTON face promotion-chasers the Bairns in the Ladbrokes SPFL Championship on Saturday, with the kick-off at 3pm at the Falkirk Stadium.

The home side are unbeaten in six Championship outings and their last game was a 2-2 draw against Morton at Cappielow.

When Sons met the Bairns in December, goals from Robert Thomson and Garry Fleming helped DFC to a valuable 2-1 win.

Dumbarton gaffer Stevie Aitken was in reflective mood ahead of tomorrow’s match.

He said: “Last Saturday was a blow to us, no doubt, but we have to focus what’s in front, starting with a very difficult game at Falkirk. We’ve had a good week in training, so we are looking forward to the game.”

Mat Northcroft is this weekend’s referee, and when his whistle blows at 3pm on Saturday, it will be the fifth time in season 2016/2017 that he has officiated at a Sons match. Andy Milne and Willie Ferguson will assist.

Sons fans will definitely recognise Bairns goalie Danny Rogers, who made 36 appearances and managed nine clean sheets during his time at Dumbarton while on loan from Aberdeen.

Also, Falkirk boss Peter Houston is a former Son, having worn the famous DFC jersey 77 times, weighing in with nine goals.

Manager Aitken confirmed that Grant Gallagher is still out, and Sam Stanton is struggling too, as he’s been unwell this week. The boss confirmed that he has no other injury concerns.
