TOMORROW COULD BE A FIRST

Friday 15th March 2019

DUMBARTON and Airdrieonians could create a little bit of history when they meet at the C&G Systems Stadium tomorrow.

The previous three league meetings of the sides this season have all ended in draws, although Airdrie did of course beat Sons in the William Hill Scottish Cup in November.

Should tomorrow’s game end with another level scoreline, it will be the first time since the current four-games-a-season format was introduced in 1994 that Dumbarton have drawn all four league fixtures against the same club.

A spokesman for the Sons Archive website said: “We’ve had a few occasions before when we’ve drawn three games out of four against a club in a season.

“But tomorrow’s game could be a first, as in the 25 years that this league format has been in place, we have never had a full house of draws.

“We were on the brink of doing this with Falkirk last season, having drawn all of our first three games against the Bairns. We didn’t quite manage to draw the fourth!”

If you really want to know what happened in the final game with Falkirk last season, details are here.

The spokesman added: “We’d rather just win tomorrow – history can wait for another day!”
