THE CAPTAIN IS BACK!

Friday 4th June 2021

TEAM captain Stuart Carswell has today ensured he will continue his future at Dumbarton until at least the 2023 close season, signing a two-year deal today.

The popular midfielder is already our longest-serving player by continuous service, having been with the club since January 2017.

His next game for the club will be his 150th in all competitions, making him only the 68th player to reach that milestone.

His previous 149 games have seen him score five goals, the most recent of which was the injury time winner against Raith Rovers in February 2020.

He joins his team-mate Ryan McGeever in signing on with the club for two years, and it was a piece of business manager Stevie Farrell was delighted to do.

The gaffer said: “There was no doubt in my mind that Stuart was one of the players I wanted to retain when I came to the club.

“He initially arrived at Dumbarton only a few weeks before I left to become Stranraer manager. His consistency since then shows what a popular and important player he is here.

“He will be a big part of our plans going forward and I’m very pleased he’s remained with us.”

Watch out for an interview with Stuart on the club website later today.
