WHILE all involved at Dumbarton Football Club continue to feel proud of a remarkable first season back in SFL Division One, the hard work involved in preparing for the upcoming campaign is already going on behind the scenes.
Contract negotiations have begun with a view to squad rebuilding for next season, and announcements will be made as things progress.
With their highest finish for many years, seventh place in the second tier of the professional game, the Sons are now officially the best part-time team in Scotland.
The observation was made both by Club co-chairman Colin Hosie and commercial director Alan Findlay at the highly successful ‘Party at the Rock’ awards ceremony on Saturday night, following the draw against First Division champions Partick Thistle.
Speaking on behalf of hard-working chairman Alan Jardine and the board of directors, who were also thanked for their endeavours by honorary president Douglas Dalgleish before the match, Colin concluded the awards celebrations by declaring: “Everyone at the club deserves special praise for what has just been achieved.”
“Dumbarton FC is close to all our hearts, and the work and dedication that goes into keeping the club what it is today has been rewarded,” he said.
Now the hard work continues to build on the Sons’ recent successes – which have also included claiming the Third Division Championship and securing their place in the First Division by winning the play-offs out of the Second Division last year.
