Dumbarton Football Club would like to pay tribute to long standing club volunteer, official and kitman David Richardson, who has stood down from his post as kitman following the completion of the 2023/24 season.

‘Davie’ has been involved with the club for almost his entire life – from a supporter on the terraces at Boghead in his early days, to being a key member of the clubs backroom team more recently.

In between all of that, David found time to be the clubs assistant secretary and represented the club with class and professionalism throughout.

David became the clubs kitman more than three years ago and worked tirelessly in his duties.

Sons manager Stevie Farrell said: “The role of anyone behind the scenes at clubs like Dumbarton can’t be underestimated and in someone like Davie we had a true legend working for us.

“He was a popular figure throughout the club and after giving years of service we hope he can now enjoy his retirement.

“We have been on the lookout for a new kitman after David informed us he was retiring a few months ago and will be welcoming a new face ahead of next season.”

All at DFC wish David the best in his retirement and we look forward to seeing him back in the stands – for League One football – next season.
