THEY think it’s all over – it’s only just beginning.
Dumbarton FC wishes to thank ALL supporters who travelled to McDiarmid Park today for the Irn Bru Cup final against Inverness CT.
We are just sorry that, despite the best efforts of everybody, we couldn’t quite overcome the last hurdle on what has been a truly remarkable journey.
However, we do have something to celebrate today, as with Brechin City’s relegation now confirmed, we are the best part-time team in Scotland for the SIXTH consecutive season.
We congratulate Inverness CT on lifting the trophy.
The battle for survival in the Championship resumes at St Mirren on Tuesday evening and, while our players will be exhausted right now, they will be ready for that challenge.
It is the first of nine fixtures we have left to move upwards from our current league position and secure a seventh season in the Championship.
If you travelled to McDiarmid Park today as a week-in, week-out supporter, THANK YOU. We will hopefully see you in Paisley on Tuesday, and at most, if not all, of the remaining games this season.
There were also many people there today who, for various reasons, can’t get to Dumbarton games that often. THANK YOU to you too. Every single one of our supporters made today what it was.
But please don’t be a stranger. Come back.
The fans at Dumbarton are a huge part of what this club has achieved over the years, and although the Irn Bru Cup final is now in the history books, there is still more ahead this season.
We’d love to see as many fans as possible at Paisley on Tuesday, and ESPECIALLY at our four remaining home fixtures this season. These are:
Saturday, March 31 v Livingston (3pm)
Saturday, April 7 v Dundee United (3pm)
Tuesday, April 17 v Inverness CT (7.45pm)
Saturday, April 21 v Falkirk (3pm)
Please try to attend as many of these fixtures as you can, along with the away fixtures, details of which can be found elsewhere on this website. The Sons Supporters Trust’s travel section can help make it easy for you to attend those matches on the road.
You could make ANOTHER big difference and make an already extraordinary season almost superhuman.
And we’d like to keep your support beyond that. Before you know it we’ll be preparing for season 2018/19 – another cup run, perchance?
But for now, enjoy your evening’s festivities, which hopefully are not dampened too much.
We are still the best part-time team in Scotland and YOU can help us stay there.
Thank you once again.
