TEAM CAPTAIN’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

Wednesday 25th December 2019

MERRY Christmas everybody!

The players, management and staff of Dumbarton FC would like to wish supporters of all ages a wonderful day today.

We were in for training in the morning on Christmas Eve yesterday, and will be in tomorrow evening as well.

I once had to train with Motherwell on Christmas Day, when they were away to Aberdeen the next day, but fortunately I get to spend today with my family.

That’s something we should all be grateful for. Some of the players also have children themselves and they can’t wait to see them opening their presents.

Just remember on this day that there are some who won’t be as fortunate as yourselves. They might not get many presents, or be without somebody close to them. Please think of them today.

As well as playing for Dumbarton, we have other jobs, which means we don’t get to spend as much time with our loved ones as we would like. When we do, that time is precious, and we’re glad we’ll get it today.

Even though we were working on our football skills yesterday and tomorrow, we don’t mind doing that. Work is a lot easier when it’s something you enjoy, and we all enjoy playing for Dumbarton.

We always wanted to be footballers since we were young, and we know what a privileged position we have.

It’s always enjoyable, but it’s even more enjoyable when we are winning games, and of course we’ve been doing a bit of that recently. What a result at Kirkcaldy on Saturday!

Hopefully we can keep doing that against Stranraer this weekend, and into the New Year, and who knows where we could finish in the league?

We’ve also got a big day coming up next month when we take on Aberdeen in the William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round at their stadium, which is quite a bit bigger than ours.

We’re all looking forward to that, but the manager is quite rightly keeping us concentrating on one game at a time. The only game we are concentrating on is against Stranraer on Saturday.

And we hope we will see you there. It is said so often but it is completely correct – our supporters really do make a big difference to us.

The support you give us does not go unnoticed. Keep up the good work, keep coming along to games, and we’ll do our best to reward you.

In the meantime, have a great day, and the rest of your Christmas holiday, and see you at the game on Saturday!
