SURVIVAL Saturday could be upon Dumbarton this week after Raith Rovers’ 3-2 defeat against Hibernian at Easter Road tonight.
Possibly depending on results which they will know before they kick off against Dundee United at Tannadice, Sons could clinch a sixth season in the Championship in front of the live BBC Alba cameras.
While Ayr United are at home to Hibernian, the two teams immediately below Dumbarton in the Championship, St Mirren and Raith Rovers, meet at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.
Here’s what needs to happen if this Saturday is to be #survivalsaturday2017.
A WIN at Tannadice will be enough to secure survival whatever happens in the earlier kick-offs. It would put Dumbarton on 41 points, meaning they can be overhauled by, at the most, one from Raith Rovers and St Mirren, who play each other on Saturday. Ayr United would definitely not be able to catch Sons.
A DRAW would also be enough for Dumbarton to secure survival on Saturday IF Raith Rovers beat St Mirren AND Ayr United do not beat Hibernian.
It’s going to be another huge day on Saturday – the penultimate one in the race for survival in the Championship. Why not head to Tannadice to see if Sons can boost their cause and possibly seal a sixth consecutive season in Scotland’s second tier?
Seats on the Sons Supporters Trust bus are still available and Tommy Hughes can be contacted for details at memsecy@sonstrust.net
