SUPPORTERS WELCOME NEW MANAGER

Sunday 21st October 2018

DUMBARTON’S supporters trust has extended a warm welcome to Jim Duffy as the club’s new manager.

Times have not been easy for the club’s fans after a tough start to the 2018/19 season.

But it is hoped, just as much off the pitch as on it, that Duffy’s confirmation as manager is a spur for the club to move forward.

A statement from the trust said: “Jim Duffy is one of the best-known and most popular managers in Scottish football in recent times.

“Had his Morton team enjoyed a bit more luck in the 2017 Premiership playoffs, they could have become a top flight side.

“To bring a manager with his CV to the club is a real coup, and credit must go to the board and sponsors for ensuring this is able to happen.

“Now, as supporters and as a club, we must look to move forward.

“It is fair to say that results have not matched ambitions so far, bringing about understandable frustration.

“But starting from Saturday’s home game against East Fife, we have a fresh canvas and an opportunity to climb the League One table.

“The clocks have not even gone back yet and we still have 26 more opportunities to put points on the board.

“We look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible at the East Fife game on Saturday – and hearing them getting behind the team and its new regime.”
