A HUGE ‘thank you’ (we are doing a lot of those at the moment!) to all Sons supporters who responded with their views on reconstruction proposals for football in Scotland.
The consultation was open from 1st May to 9th June, as announced on the Club’s website and social media accounts.
We had 20 detailed responses, and made reference to over 100 other communications, including those on social media.
Our supporters have mixed opinions on reconstruction. There is general backing for larger divisions where that is possible, but no consensus around the form this should take.
However, Dumbarton supporters (and the Sonstrust, which made its own views clear on this) remain strongly opposed to the notion of ‘colt’ teams from Premiership teams playing in the lower divisions.
A summary of the consultation has been received by the Dumbarton FC board with appreciation, and will feed into its own considerations and deliberations moving forward.
Those who took part in the survey will be receiving their own summary shortly.
The first priority of the Club at present is to ensure our survival and to look at coming out of lockdown, whenever that is possible, in the best possible shape – financially, and in all other aspects.
The Dumbarton FC board has pledged to look for continuing ways of working positively with supporters, who are the lifeblood of the Club.
