DUMBARTON have suffered a horrendous afternoon away to Stirling Albion today, going down by a 6-0 scoreline.

The game got off to the worst possible start, with Stirling ahead after 11 minutes when Robert Thomson turned to fire home from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later there was an even bigger mountain to climb, Paul McLean’s header finding the net, possibly via a deflection, to double the home side’s lead.

Sons looked as if they might be getting back into the game before a third goal rattled in midway through the first half. Dale Carrick was found all alone in the centre to tap home a low ball from the left.

Three minutes from half time, it got worse still. More dismal defending from a corner allowed Ross McGeachie to slot away Stirling’s fourth.

Number five for Stirling came from another corner after 64 minutes and Dumbarton once again had only themselves to blame, Kyle Banner being given a free header.

And the same player converted from another corner, this time with an angled driven effort, with 20 minutes left.

Dumbarton’s next match is at home to Albion Rovers on Saturday, October 15, kick-off 3pm.
