STEVENSON SWITCHES TO SONS FROM AYR UTD

Wednesday 8th June 2016

EXPERIENCED attacking midfielder Ryan Stevenson checked into the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium today to become manager Stevie Aitken’s fourth new signing for the 16/17 season.

Ryan, who is 31, has made over 400 appearances in professional football, netting 76 goals and is a man of many clubs — six in total.

Ayrshire born (Irvine), Ryan started his career at Chelsea as a trainee in 2001 and has since played for St Johnstone, Ayr United (four spells), Hearts, Ipswich Town and Partick Thistle.

In 2011, the then Scotland manager Craig Levein included Ryan in his international squad to play Cyprus and he was named as a substitute in the 2-1 win.

Last season he managed 32 SPFL and Cup appearances for Partick Thistle and Ayr Utd combined, scoring 7 goals.

Manager Stevie Aitken is a happy man having completed the deal.

He said: “I’ve been chasing him since the season finished and I’m delighted that we have signed a big name player at Dumbarton. He’ll bring quality and experience to the squad.”

Ryan’s home and away strips are now available to sponsor for only £80 including VAT. Click HERE for more details.
