SONS assistant manager Stephen Farrell is set to leave the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium to become League 1 club Stranraer FC’s new boss.
‘Faz’ was given permission to speak to the Stair Park club earlier this week and following an interview he has been offered the post as manager which he has accepted.
It is expected that he will take up his new job next week and will be in the DFC dugout this Saturday for the visit of Queen of the South.
In the meantime, Sons manager Stevie Aitken will start his search for a replacement.
Faz began his career with Kilmarnock before joining Stoke City in January 1990.
After Stoke suffered relegation, Stephen returned to Scotland and had spells at St Mirren and Stranraer before turning Junior at Glenafton Athletic.
He was appointed manager of Cumnock Juniors as successor to Campbell Money in March 2009.
In December 2012, Stephen was appointed Assistant Manager of Stranraer and then moved to the Rock in May 2015.
Together with Stevie Aitken, he oversaw a successful 2015/16 season which saw survival in the Championship secured with two games to spare.
Dumbarton FC appreciate everything that Faz has brought to the club and he will leave with our best wishes for a successful future career in management.
