STEFAN MCCLUSKEY LEAVES DUMBARTON

Monday 22nd March 2021

FORWARD Stefan McCluskey has been released by Dumbarton, with his season now over due to an operation on his injured shoulder.

Stef sustained the injury in the opening minutes of the current season in the Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline Athletic.

He returned to action in December while awaiting surgery. He now has the operation tomorrow and will not be able to play for some time afterwards.

Stef played 35 games in two seasons with DFC, having joined from Pollok in the 2019 close season.

Manager Jim Duffy said: “Dumbarton is my third club where I have worked with Stef. I’ve always known what I’ll get from him – a sound, professional attitude and high workrate.

“We knew he would have to have the operation at some point and as he is now out for the season, it has been agreed that he will be released.

“He’s a model professional and we wish him well with his recovery from the operation, and whatever comes next for him.”
