DUMBARTON have drawn 0-0 at Forfar Athletic today, with a lack of cutting edge the difference between that and all three points.
The home side had the better of the opening exchanges and forced a succession of early corners, but nothing to unduly trouble Brett Long (pictured).
Close to half time, ex-Sons defender Mark Docherty had the best chance of the half in a free kick routine with his fellow former Dumbarton man Stefan McCluskey.
But Long did well to beat away his close range shot.
It was almost on the whistle when Sons created anything of note, Finlay Gray looking to chip the keeper only to see his effort saved.
Dumbarton saw more of the ball, and had a strong wind advantage, in the second half, but the frustration continued.
Gregor Buchanan did have the ball in the net after a goalmouth scramble, but was flagged offside.
With 20 minutes left Gray was played in by Ryan Wallace, but his shot rolled agonisingly across goal and wide.
In injury time, a John Gemmell header at the back post was turned over the bar.
Dumbarton are away from home again next week, visiting Stirling Albion.
