The Rev Grant Hamilton

The Rev Grant Hamilton became Dumbarton’s new club chaplain on August 15 2020, succeeding the Rev John MacGregor.

Grant has been an ordained minister since 2011 after working for 20 years in social work. That included spending the final six years before his ordination working in North Africa for a Christian development organisation with some of the poorest people in that region.

Grant has university degrees in Modern History and Theology and holds a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work.

Before becoming chaplain at Dumbarton, Grant was chaplain for six seasons at Queen of the South.

Since becoming a chaplain, Grant has completed training in Mental Health First Aid and suicide intervention as well as participating in regular training events provided by Sports Chaplaincy UK/Scotland.

He is married to Geraldine and they have three grown up children. The family all live locally in the Silverton area of Dumbarton.
