The Sonstrust Player of the Match award has returned this season – with Trust members having the chance to pick their star performer, and meet them after the game.
Previously the Sons Supporters Trust had presented Player of the Match awards until the pandemic, but the prize now returns for 2025 – with support from Lime Road-based club partner No Limits Brewing.
A Trust member will have the deciding say in each William Hill League 2 match – and will then have the opportunity to present their pick with a No Limits Weekender six pack of craft beer.
Depending on player availability, fans in hospitality will then have the chance to hear from that game’s top performer following the match.
David Brownlee, Sonstrust chair, said: “Fan involvement has been crucial to the huge strides forward that the club has taken over the summer, and we felt it only right to bring back the Player of the Match award.
“This was always popular before, and gives fans the opportunity to recognise members of the playing squad for their performance – as well as getting to meet them in person after the game.
“It felt like the ideal time for it to return to recognise the efforts of those on the park in a huge season for the club, and we’re incredibly grateful to have the support of a terrific local business in No Limits Brewing.”
No Limits Brewing have already played a big role at the club this season, from being a driving force behind Dumbarton Rocks Festival plus the Player of the Match support to a wider and very exciting club partnership for which more details will be announced shortly.
