SONS-TV LIVE IS GO!

Monday 28th September 2020

DUMBARTON’S pre-season friendly with BSC Glasgow on Saturday became the first test event for the club’s new Pixellot live streaming service.

Despite the final installation only being completed on Friday afternoon, a team of volunteers worked to successfully test the system for Saturday’s friendly – despite none of them being in the C&G Systems Stadium.

Club secretary Stephen Lynch, who has coordinated the efforts, was pleased with the first remote trial run.

He said: “Saturday was very worthwhile for everyone involved. We were pleased with how well it went, however it has also pinpointed areas where we can now return to Pixellot and ensure that the end product fans view when the competitive action starts is as good as possible.

“We do urge patience though, we are still learning the technology and it needs adjustments for each stadium it is installed in. This has been a huge task for a team of volunteers to undertake, but as with all live TV it won’t be totally hiccup free. We do know that the more streaming we do the more it will improve however – but BT Sport and Sky don’t have too much to worry about…yet!”

Sons are now working with Pixellot and other clubs to ensure that they continue to iron out any issues, with further test events planned prior to the start of the season.

Initially the club set the target of the first league game of the season against Clyde on 24th October 24 for their first broadcast, however hopes are now high that the Dunfermline game on Tuesday 6th October may be viewable via the platform.

If not then alternative plans will be in place to ensure that neither home nor away fans miss out on the action.

Further information on SonsTV Live will be available in advance of the first broadcast.
