SONS TAKE FIRST LEG ADVANTAGE

Dumbarton scored in either half to earn a 2-1 victory over Stirling Albion in the first leg of the cinch League One play-off semi-finals this evening.

James Hilton headed Sons into the lead on 12 minutes before Dale Hilton equalised 15 minutes later.

Michael Ruth had a shot cleared off the line before the break as the hosts looked to regain the lead but couldn’t find a way through.

The second-half was a narrow affair with Dumbarton being handed the opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot when James Graham was fouled.

Tony Wallace stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and hand his side a narrow advantage heading into Saturday’s second-leg.

Spartans won 2-1 over Peterhead in this evenings other semi-final.

Sons head to Forthbank on Saturday looking to book their spot in the final next week.
