SONS TAKE A VALUABLE POINT FROM RAITH

Saturday 6th October 2012

DUMBARTON fought back from behind twice to earn a well-deserved point with a 2-2 draw away against Raith Rovers this afternoon.

The first half was fairly even, with Rovers making more of their possession and Sons looking dangerous on the break.

The home side went ahead on 23 minutes, when Brian Graham burst through to make it 1-0. There were chances at both ends, but Raith retained their lead through to half time.

After the break Sons’ goalie Jamie Ewings made a string of good saves to keep his team in the game. Then on 52 minutes Jim Lister got in behind Rovers’ defence and slotted home to draw the game level.

Dumbarton battled hard as Raith came back at them in a high tempo second half. On 69 minutes Greig Spence put the home side in front again as he rose to head in from a corner.

But minutes from the end substitute Bryan Prunty brought the away support to their feet with an equaliser to make it 2-2. Another crucial point as Sons head into the fortnight long international break.
