SONS MOVE INTO FOURTH PLACE

Saturday 19th October 2019

DUMBARTON have moved into the promotion playoff places in SPFL League One, after a hard fought 0-0 draw against Stranraer at Stair Park this afternoon.

There were chances for both sides in a gritty and nervy opening 20 minutes, with home ‘keeper Max Currie pulling off a superb save to thwart Sons’ Isaac Layne on the quarter hour.

Towards the end of the half the Blues threw themselves forward. It took some dogged defensive and a quality stop from Conor Brennan to keep them at bay.

After the break the game swung back and forth, with Dumbarton coming close to scoring on 66 minutes – when Joseph McKee had a free-kick pushed away by Currie before the ball flashed wide of the post from Layne.

In the end neither side could find a breakthrough. But the goalless draw moves Dumbarton up to fourth place in League One, on 14 points from 10 games.
