Dumbarton suffered a 3-1 defeat at Galabank this afternoon.
Annan raced into a comfortable lead at the break through Willie Gibson, Martin McNiff’s own goal and Tony Wallace.
It could have been more at the interval had it not been for a string of fine saves from Sons ‘goalie Brett Long though Declan Byrne and Ally Love did miss chances from promising positions for Stevie Farrell’s side.
The second-half largely petered out with David Wilson curling home a free-kick with 15 minutes to go as both he, Byrne and Kalvin Orsi got minutes into their legs after recent injury trouble.
Sons return to action on Tuesday evening against Stirling Albion.
