SONS INTRODUCE UNDER-20 SIDE

Dumbarton Football Club are excited to announce the formation of a new youth side ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Dumbarton Under-20’s will compete in the West of Scotland Football Development League, giving young players an opportunity to play in a competitive environment on a weekly basis with a clear pathway to Senior football.

Games will take place on a Friday evening with Sons set to play their home games at Argyle Park.

We are hosting an open trial for the team on Sunday 23rd July. All those wishing to take part should contact davidlavery1981@icloud.com.

Dumbarton have learned their opponents for their first season as a team, with some exciting local derbies to look forward too.

David Lavery’s side will compete in Conference C of the setup alongside Clydebank, Glasgow University, Greenock Juniors, Johnstone Burgh, Knightswood, Maryhill, Renfrew, St Anthonys, St Peters, Thorn Athletic, Vale of Leven and Yoker Athletic.

The PlayerData League Cup group section has also drawn up some intriguing ties as Sons share a group with Clydebank and Vale of Leven.

Dumbarton’s under-17 and under-18 will continue going forward with a number of players from those teams last season making the step up to under-20’s football.

Some of those players have made their mark on the first-team already with Luca Vata making five appearances last season and being a regular part of the squad whilst Declan Breen made one appearance against Rangers B and Preston MacIntyre has been called up to train with Stevie Farrell’s side.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more details ahead of the season starting.
