DUMBARTON have reached the League One playoff final after a narrow but deserved semi-final second leg victory over Stranraer, 1-0 on the night and on aggregate.
The first half saw Dumbarton dominate territorially, but miss chances, with Jaime Wilson (pictured) blasting over from a rebound at close range midway through the first half.
However, he did roll home the opening goal eight minutes from half time after some neat build-up play by Sons.
After 12 minutes of the second half, disaster threatened to strike when Stranraer were awarded a penalty, but Ruari Paton’s spot kick hit the post and rolled wide.
From there, each side had chances, with Nick McAllister almost finishing a stunning solo effort for Dumbarton, but being denied by the keeper.
A Sean Burns effort for Stranraer whistled narrowly over, but Sons held on.
They will now play Edinburgh City in the final, with the first leg away from home on Monday and the second at the C&G Systems Stadium on Thursday.
