DUMBARTON ended their run of 1-0 defeats and claimed a valuable point in a 0-0 draw with Montrose.
Manager Jim Duffy made three changes from Saturday’s cup team for this crucial League One clash at the sunlit but very chilly C & G Systems Stadium.
Starting were Rico Quitongo, Rabin Omar and PJ Crossan, with Robert Jones, Adam Frizzell and Sam Wardrop on the bench.
Lewis Milne forced a good save from Sam Ramsbottom in the 12th minute, and three minutes later a Tomas Brindley cross bounced off Sean Dillon and just wide of the post. Next Brindlay set up a chance for Crossan but he could not adjust in time to head for goal.
As half-time approached a Nat Wedderburn shot was blocked by a teammate who was offside, and the interval arrived without a goal.
Five minutes after the restart Ramsbottom made a fine diving save to foil Graham Webster, and in the 65th minute Montrose made three changes and Jones replaced Jaime Wilson as the teams looked for a goal. In the 76th minute James Wallace replaced Brindley.
A minute later Wallace set up Jones, but keeper Aaron Lennox saved. With two minutes left Chris Antoniazzi came close, and full-time arrived with honours even.
