SONS GRAB A POINT AT MORTON

Saturday 21st October 2017

DUMBARTON secured an important point in a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Morton in Greenock this afternoon.

It was an ideal start for the men from the Rock, as Mark Stewart scrambled the ball home for 1-0 after a superb through ball from Chris McLaughlin and a mix up in the Morton defence.

Much of the rest of the first half was an even affair, but Ton began to dominate in the last 15 minutes and put Sons under the cosh.

Morton resumes their pressure after the break and were soon level. Bob McHugh took advantage of some hesitant defending to drive home the equaliser.

Dumbarton pressed back immediately. However, Craig Barr just failed to connect with his attempted diving header.

Morton threatened to grab another in a frantic second half, but Sons came back again and held in resolutely for a valuable point.
