IT was another tough game for Dumbarton at Tannadice this evening, as the visitors went down 2-0 to Championship promotion chaser Dundee United.
United started off on the front foot, but there were goal chances at both ends inside the first half hour.
For Sons it was David Wilson, Callum Gallagher and Andy Stirling who came closest, with the men from the Rock again struggling to be decisive in the fainal third/
On 30 minutes Dundee United went ahead. Scott McDonald sent the ball through to Paul McMullan who took a touch and finished well.
On the cusp of half time it was 2-0 to the home side.
Bilel Moshni scrambled the ball home after a cross from the left, leaving Sons an even bigger task in the second half.
After the break, Dumbarton’s Stirling flashed the ball across the goal, but there were no takers.
Several opportunities then fell to the hosts. They were not able to capitalise on them either.
As the half progressed, Sons keeper Scott Gallacher made a series of vital saves to keep his side in the hunt.
However, Dumbarton could not find a way through, and will now be looking to reverse their fortunes in the return match against the Tannadice side at the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium this coming Saturday 7th April.
