SONS FIGHTBACK NOT ENOUGH

Saturday 17th January 2015

A STRONG performance in the second half was not enough for Dumbarton to rescue an away game against Raith Rovers that ended in a 2-1 defeat.

Sons went behind to a too-easily conceded penalty, converted by Ryan Conroy on the half hour.

Grant Anderson made it 2-0 to the Kirkcaldy side three minutes later, with a close range header.

After the break Dumbarton came back increasingly strongly, finally getting a breakthrough on 81 minutes when Mitch Megginson struck home a rebound from a Scott Agnew shot.

Sons should have equalised when Megginson smashed a fine chance against the bar from a few yards out.

Then right at the end Raith ‘keeper David McGurn pulled off a miraculous save at full stretch to ensure all three points.
