Saturday’s victory against Clyde not only kicked off a new William Hill League 2 season, it also saw the Marbill Coaches Stadium post the biggest attendance outside of the top two divisions in Scotland.
In total 912 fans clicked through the turnstiles to begin the new season, our highest opening day total at home since 2017.
The big home support was certainly appreciated by the players and staff, with the stadium rocking from the first minute to the last – and a healthy travelling support contributing to the atmosphere.
But now we want to keep the momentum going. A huge season lies ahead, and your support will be vital in helping make it a success.
Owner Mario Lapointe said: “I came not just for the football, but for all the other activities. The hospitality was unbelievable, the catering is incredible. We’re doing up the stadium, everything is starting to look good.
“To top it all off we got more than 900 fans coming to cheer on their team. It was so cool and it was a very good day.
“I’m happy with everything going on at the club. The investment here isn’t only about football; it’s about everything that is happening. And we’re already seeing success.
“There are clubs that will have two or three times our wage bill and Stevie is working some magic with what we have.
“The Pass it On campaign mainly comes from fans in Scotland. Almost one in five of our fans has bought a season ticket for a youngster.
“To my knowledge nobody else has ever done this in Scotland. It’s been a huge success and makes a lot of people happy.
“Some people said my targets were far fetched. But we’ve now hit the first, season tickets, already.
“Now we want to get close to a 900 average attendance for the league season. That will be tough. Sometimes the weather is bad or there won’t be a big travelling support, but all-in-all we’re sure it can be reached.”
