SONS FANS GEARING UP FOR SEMI-FINAL

Monday 8th January 2018

AS the playing squad at Dumbarton FC look forward to the Irn Bru Cup semi-final next month, Sons fans are planning to back the team against TNS.

Stevie Aitken’s men will be cheered on by a large travelling support, with many fans looking to make it a weekend of fun, relishing the fact that DFC will be in a national cup competition’s last hurdle to a cup final appearance.

Already there is one confirmed supporters bus travelling to Oswestry on Saturday 17th Feb with all occupants staying over after the match, which kicks off at 7.35pm.

Sonstrust member Gillie Brough, who is organising the overnight bus said : “We have a full 53 seater travelling down, with everyone booked into a hotel.

“In fact, when the draw was made for the semi-final, I managed to secure a number of rooms at a local Premier Inn close to TNS’s ground!”

Gillie further explained : “The Sonstrust normally run a fans bus to away games and this will still be the case for the trip down south.

“Tommy (Hughes) has the travel section bus almost full and this will be an ‘up and down’ journey in that they will travel to the game and return immediately after.”

Gillie continued : “The other bus, the one I’m organising, is for supporters who are staying overnight on the Saturday.

“It is now full but I’m looking into the possibility of running a second overnight bus.

“Any second bus will depend on numbers, but we have options.”

There is a dedicated Facebook page for Sons fans to register interest in this bus, and the link is shown below.
