Dumbarton made it six games in a row without defeat with a goalless draw against Stranraer at Stair Park this afternoon.

Sons ‘keeper Jay Hogarth denied Deryn Lang in the opening quarter of an hour and Matty Grant lobbed an effort just wide in the home sides best opportunities in the first-half.

At the other end, Carlo Pignatiello had Dumbarton’s best opportunity in front of goal but his low strike was kept out by Lewis Budinauckas.

After the break, Ben Armour headed over an early opportunity for Stranraer with the home goalkeeper at his best again to keep out a Michael Ruth header and prevent Kalvin Orsi from capping off a fine solo run.

The hosts finished on the front foot with a stramash somehow staying out before Hogarth denied Tam Orr when he was through on goal.

The result, Sons fifth consecutive clean sheet, keeps Dumbarton third in League Two with a couple of fixtures to go ahead of the visit of Elgin City next weekend.
