IT was a tale of two penalties as Dumbarton and Falkirk fought out a 1-1 draw at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium this afternoon.
A goalless first half made way for an exciting second period with both teams determined to take all three points.
Falkirk took the lead in controversial circumstances when Baird converted a hotly contested penalty which saw Sons left-back Mark Docherty sent-off for handball.
Spurred by a sense of injustice, Dumbarton, with 10-men took the game to Falkirk and thought they had equalised when Buchanan scored from a Waters free-kick.
But the standside linesman flagged for offside to keep the Bairns in front.
Former Sons keeper Danny Rogers then barged into Nade to give referee Dallas his second penalty decision to make.
Much to the delight of the home support, Garry Fleming converted the spot kick in injury time to give Dumbarton a deserved point.
Sons are now 5 points ahead of Livingston and just 2 behind 7th placed St Mirren with next week’s trip to Dumfries on the horizon.
