DUMBARTON’S series of closed-door pre-season friendlies ended tonight with a 3-3 draw against Albion Rovers.
The game was played in a competitive spirit in conditions that suggested it was mid-October rather than the height of summer.
As the Sons coaching staff shivered on the sidelines, striker Jim Lister turned up the heat on the pitch by grabbing an early brace to put Dumbarton 2-0 ahead after 9 mins.
Rovers pulled a goal back on the half hour and on 50 mins drew level against the run of play.
However a trademark Scott Agnew free-kick restored Sons’ lead a minute later, although the Rovers ‘keeper could be credited with an assist!
Dumbarton looked to have wrapped things up but a last minute Rovers penalty was converted by former Son Kieran Brannan to level the match.
Sons now head into Saturday’s first public outing against Clydebank unbeaten in the behind the scenes matches.
Gaffer Alan Adamson said : “Again, we and a good workout tonight and Rovers gave us a decent game.
“We made lots of changes in the match to ensure the players get some match practice.
“Now we turn our attention to the Bankies game at the weekend.”
