A CHRIS Kane goal in the first half was the difference between the teams at the Indodrill Stadium this afternoon, as Dumbarton pushed past Alloa Athletic in a hard fought game.
Sons rode their luck at times, with the Wasps coming perilously close to scoring themselves before the break.
But overall it was an effective and aggressive performance by the visitors on a cold, damp and dark afternoon in Clackmannanshire.
Dumbarton went ahead on nine minutes. A cross from Mitch Megginson was headed across goal by Andy Graham before being driven home by Kane.
There were chances to extend the lead in both halves, with Sons enjoying more of the possession and mostly looking in control.
The home side threatened occasionally on the break. Chris Kane had the ball in the net for Sons again in the second half, but was ruled offside.
The victory keeps Dumbarton in seventh place, five points off the relegation zone and six points from the promotion play-off places in the SPFL Championship.
